At 72 years of age, poet Abdullahi Ma’allin Ahmed (Dhoodaan) recently died in Harar, Ethiopia. He was a renowned Somali poet with unrivaled talents and miraculous voice. He is considered to be one of the most outstanding Somali poets, albeit his contentious traits.

Somali CD Singers
I was driving home one evening with a teenage relative of mine, we were listening to one of my favourite, and most loved somali singers on the car stereo, Mr Omar Dhule Ali. I was singing along to one of his most iconic love songs, when I was rudely interrupted by my relative who enquired, “why is this guy singing Mr CD’s songs.” (more…)
